Tasting notes from Billy Abbott (The Whisky Exchange)

Apple blossom, white peach, barley sugar and crunchy icing. Pear drops notes grow, accompanied by more peachy notes. Candied flavours sit underneath: tins of travel sweets and glacier fruits.

Creamy in texture and flavour, with soft vanilla and whipped cream followed by fresh but slightly underripe plums and hot cinnamon spice. The heat dies away and mineral notes peek out from behind, with fruit boiled sweets, candied lemons and wine gums.

Floral notes appear and then disappear, replaced by spun sugar. Peach and pear develop, with touches of dark, oaky spice.

At one time all of Glentauchers spirit was dunnage warehouse matured, though currently producing at 4.1mlpa, this may have changed.

N: Much heavier than the previous three, this is a really husky>resinous oily malt with fruity Glacier sweets,... and “crunchy icing”, someone calls out.

T: Well aged, nicely balanced and full bodied delivery. Much like the Balblair, with balls - waxy=malty, salty balls!

F: Rory leads with ”Cola bottles”. I fail to write any more notes. I must have be enjoying this one.

C: Thoroughly decent standard session whisky.

    Scores a B
