This dram is always a real bank. From the first days of my whisky love, always great to have this in the glass. A wonderful island malt that does not exaggerate the smoke or the sherry. Very balanced.
The peat smoke, which is reminiscent of ashes, quickly clears. Behind it comes a mix of sweet and sour red fruits, grapes, raisins and cranberries. There are also notes of chocolate and some coffee.
The interplay of fruity sweetness and acidity is immediately apparent on the tongue, with the sweetness quickly gaining the upper hand. Totally gentle on the tongue, no burning sensation, the well-known peppery mouthfeel only starts shortly before the finish. The smoke is now showing up again. But remains discreetly in the background.
Medium length, the chilli catch is noticeable but much lower than the 10er. There is no oak influence, the smoke lasts on the palate.
