Whisky Reviews for Talisker 2007

- Classic Talisker for every day ????????
- This dram is always a real bank. From the first days of my whisky love, always great to have this in the glass. A wonderful island malt that does not exaggerate the smoke or the sherry. Very balanced.
The peat smoke, which is reminiscent of ashes, quickly clears. Behind it comes a mix of sweet and sour red fruits, grapes, raisins and cranberries. There are also notes of chocolate and some coffee.
The interplay of fruity sweetness and acidity is immediately apparent on the tongue, with the sweetness quickly gaining the upper hand. Totally gentle on the tongue, no burning sensation, the well-known peppery mouthfeel only starts shortly before the finish. The smoke is now showing up again. But remains discreetly in the background.
Medium length, the chilli catch is noticeable but much lower than the 10er. There is no oak influence, the smoke lasts on the palate.
Sweet peat, bbq, brine, lemon, vanilla
Sweet and smoky, creamy, wine adds a layer of complexity and a tang,
Smoke and wine stay, sweetness and brine finish. A bit short
Soft and mild with fruity and some smoke. Later there is a slight spice and spiciness of pepper.
Nicely balanced between fruit, spiciness and smoke. But little by little the hot pepper comes through. With a second sip, this spiciness of pepper is more intense.
A strong, long and spicy finish.
- The aromas that I mainly find on the nose are smoke, zest and cinnamon.
The taste is mainly made up of smoke, cinnamon and a not too strong honey sweetness. It is also salty and I find the aromas of zeste a little weaker again. The chilli catch is not strong there.
In the finish I find it slightly spicy and spicy. The zest comes back with some wood, along with very delicate orange aromas.
I don't find it particularly complex now, the sharpness at the end even bother me a little.
