Whisky Reviews for Longmorn 1989 V&M

Very good old Longmorn, that is maybe lacking a little complexity, but very quaffable, for sure. Some great elements. $365 cdn. v&m seem to be in the higher end of Independent Bottlers, for no apparent reason. I notice their stuff sits on the shelf longer as a result.
    • Nose
      90 90
Brown butter, soft, chewy and rich nose, rum and raisin, gentle allspice, real vanilla bean, soft notes of antique wood, classy
    • Taste
      88 88
Soft, chewy, a little thin, walnut cake, pecan, plums, toffee, oak dryness
    • Finish
      86 86
Thin, short, earl grey, dry tannins, turbinado sugar, toasted walnuts

    Good, delicate and elegant
    • Nose
very delicate, sweet but not too much, brioche, white fruit
    • Taste
gentle, initial salty note, then fruit comes out
    • Finish
Long, slowly it transforms and in the end you feel a little vanilla and above all a nice ripe banana

Quite disappointed, I was expecting much better for a 28 year old Longmorn. Not bad intrinsically, just a bit "limited", if I dare say ...
    • Nose
Very fruity, the archetype of bourbon cask, vanilla, white fruits and cockles.
    • Taste
28 years ? It is much younger, the mouth is a little flat and slightly alcoholic. Not packed for the shot.
    • Finish
      Slightly bitter and fleeting.
