    • Nose
      86 86
Nose sweet enough, quite sweet, on dried fruits, plum, well sherry, currants. Good magnitude
    • Taste
      84 84
Pretty easy, a little cake baked, raisins, toffee, but with a little youth and vegetal notes. Good length.
    • Finish
      85 85
Quite long, on raisins, plum, some spices (cinnamon, cloves), and always vegetal notes.

The nose is pleasant, but unspectacular ... unfortunately it is relatively sour in the taste and finish, which does not like with whiskey. He can not reach the 85 points today

[October 2017]  Many whisky drinkers focus on single malts only but they really miss out the sometimes adorable vatted (or as they are called nowadays: blended) malts.  I had a lot of flabbergasting blended malts in the past like https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/20804/highland-fusilier-21-year-old-gm or https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/94779/blended-malt-xo-twa.  That is why I bought this miniature.

The colour is old gold and the texture shows early legs and late tears.  The nose is quite shy and again I guess they bottled leached and dead casks again (as many of the recent TWC bottlings are of that kind).  The mouthfeel is warming and very spicy, I call that interesting at least.  But no coating at all (just as the light oiliness indicated).  The taste is on some nice sherry flavours (not a single trace of sulphur!) but again it is rather shy and unimpressive.  The finish is short and...not remarkable.  Adding water does not help either (dead is dead is dead)...

This release really fits in the series of recent TWC bottlings from exhausted casks.  Obviously, small bottlers like TWC are not able to get their hands on one of the rare quality casks that are left in the warehouses anymore after more then 10 years of whisky boom times.  You cannot blame them for that, I guess they do their very best (but: it is as it is...)!
