Whisky Reviews for Longmorn 2003 GM

5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 83.46 points

  1. Dr.Nose did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

The nose has fine sherry influences with aromas of stewed pears, spring flowers, blackberries, apple pie and subtle hints of cocoa. A drop of water gives aromas of sweet vanilla, butterscotch, baked apples, brown sugar, rich fruitcake, apricot and an accent of custard. The taste is soft and creamy with notes of vanilla, toffee apple, ripe pear, banana, chocolate and hints of spices. With water there appear tones of stewed apples, citrus peel, licorice and toasted oak. In the aftertaste there are notes of roasted macadamia nuts recognizable and with a long lasting fruitiness.

    Notes from internet.

  3. DramGoodLife scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

When the bottle was first opened it was a minimum of 86, strong points with nose, palate and finish.
Lower and lower down the bottle things started to turn bad with the vinegar and feinty notes jumping to the forefront.
    • Nose
First notes of sherry, raisins and nuts. Some citrusy and tannins appear, definitely Longmorn. With time notes of balsamic vinegar arrive.
The sweetness and strong points of the sherry casks don’t last too long and all goes bad. Time is not a friend with this dram getting worse and worse.
    • Taste
The citrus and nutty flavours at the front with middle of palate spice jumping to the front. A little caramel and oak show at the back.
    • Finish
Sour and bitter oak with some strong tannin notes. Quite hot and not too pleasant.
