  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

I had expected more from this old Clynelish. It's good, but not thrilling.
    • Nose
Gentle fruity notes of pear and apple. Pineapple. Some grassiness. Cinnamon. Whiff of smoke at the background.
    • Taste
Citrus fruit and orange skin. Tangerines. Later followed with raisins. Toasted almonds. Sandalwood. Carraway.
    • Finish
Medium long. Peppery. A little nutmeg. Caramel. Clove.

  2. DrunkDude scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

Smoky, plasticine essence, a touch of crazy tropical fruit of mango and durian, green apple juice and orange juice, smelly pork, grease, figs. After a while, the smoke faded away, and the smell of durian was much more obvious. The combination of blue cheese durian smell and fragrance is very interesting and pleasant. Light cream and sweet milk, passion fruit. 94
The overall flavor is very light, a piece of lard without pig smell, small orange juice in the air for a while, a little pineapple beer, a touch of artificial coffee added sugar, licorice, oil, maltose, some black pepper combined with woodiness, sweet The orange sweetness in the sweet old fashion, the overall flavor of the wine is very light, but the wine body is rich in oils, and the layers are varied and varied. 90
Licorice, tannins, slightly orange peel, sweet, baked feeling. 90

  3. Calmar scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Excellent whisky, quite a strong aroma developing from woody to industrial tones, taste / finish more direct, but nevertheless very interesting, with many nuances and semitones, so that if such a profile is close to you, you will not be disappointed.
    • Nose
Discreet, dry, salty notes, spicy wood, vanilla, sweet confectionery motifs, prickly mineral shades, grain, freshly cut grass, propolis, wild flowers, some wool, cattle yard, metal chips, oiled steel tools.
    • Taste
Rich, dense, woody industrial, lube oil, sour-metallic notes, burnt match heads, mineral tones, sweet oily shades, ginger.
    • Finish
Spicy, sour-metal, industrial, light notes of oak and bark, herbal tones, lemon peel in tea, very long.

  6. Feusi scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

A bottling of 12 year old Clynelish by the distillery, most probably from the early 1980s - about the time that sister distillery Brora closed, leaving Clynelish as sole distiller on the site.

  7. Feusi scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Smells seductive of toffee and malt. A very pleasant experience. There are also earlier bottles with a perfect dram, it is fortunate if you have the change to taste a dram of such a marvelous whisky.
