  1. Baanaanaabob scored this whisky 95 points Connoisseur

A bit rounder than the 69, chalky mineral, waxy a hint of petrol (Riesling style), then some great fruitiness, orange, lemons. Extremely powerful, amazing

No doubt, this is a great one - every time I taste this one I find more new aromas - Fantastic!
    • Nose
      96 96
Fresh, rich, fruity, pear, honeydew, tropical fruits, pineapple, mango, passion fruit, citrusy, green apples, some minerals, hints of tobacco, whiffs of smoke, and much more - really complex - superb!
    • Taste
      96 96
Punchy, powerful, but very oily, thick and smooth, immediately some smoky, peaty notes and also little bit leathery, also citrus fruits, lemony, waxy, subtle sweetness - there is really a lot in there - excellent!
    • Finish
      95 95
      Long and burning, mellow, zesty

    12 yo (56.9%, OB for Edward &
    Edward, white label, rotation 1971)

Colour: straw. Nose: this one is a
tad less expressive, less sharp and
a little less mineral. It develops
    rather on vanilla crème, orange
juice and apple pie, but all the markers
are well here (huge waxiness, stones,
oil). Maybe smokier as well, with
    quite some marzipan, propolis, apricot
    juice… A slightly rounder version.
Mouth: similar to the 1971 of course
but a little more powerful (maybe
it’s the bottle) and even waxier
this time, also more on crystallized
kumquats and citrons, with hints of
cardamom. Maybe a tad less complex
but not lesss good. And an even longer
finish. In short, this one is bolder
but a tad less complex. 93
    points.
