Quick hit review.

A 6-year-old Laphroaig matured in a sherry hogshead? I expect some pretty intense flavors here. Dusty, vegetal peat smoke arises, followed by salted licorice, road tar and burned rubber. Initially sweet and herbal, the palate develops with aniseed, peppermint and a cloud of ash. Fennel, raisins and brown sugar linger in the prolonged finish. This is great stuff, showcasing the potential of young peat monsters!

I don't want to put water in something like this.

There's no need to ruin the mindblowing potency to go look for subtle nuances.

It's probably not suited for an avec at a quiet formal occation, it will etch the enamel off the teeth of the posh crowd.

But it's a perfect energizer at the end of a hard days night.

Nose

Bold but yet delicate nose.

There is no telling this is 58,7% unless you dip your nose into it.Lots of thick typical Laphroaig smoke, mellowed down by sweet fruity notes.

I find it more medicinal than the regular 10YO.

The peat is clearly briny, but not at all sour like many young Islay's tend to be.

Taste

WOW, this is potent stuff.

Black tar, asphalt, rubber, thick smokieness immediatly covering the mouth.

Quickly changing from oily to rather dry with a growing bitterness, never reaching unpleasant level though.

Old leather, roasted or rather charred nuts.

Very gentle on the alc feeling considering the strenght.

Finish

Past medium lenght.

Dominated by the drying smoke, but the fruit manage to add some nice sweetness to the end.

The taste is quite different from what I was getting in the nose. Very sweet and feels like the influence from the cask is getting quite dominant. But it works just fine for such a young whisky. Very drinkable.

Nose

Seaweed, some smoke, and iodine. This leads to a sweetness from red fruits, but also dried fruits, such as plums and dates. It’s a bit salty, briny. Lit matches but a very small amount. Followed by citrus.

Taste

Quite some citrus at first, some seaweed, and a bit briny. A hint of vanilla. This is much sweeter then I expected. Plums I would say, maybe even some apricots. Some smoked bacon too.

Finish

The finish is quite short, very sweet though and somewhat ashy.

The aroma is rich, intense, buttery. Iodine, seaweed, smoke, coniferous - herbal theme. They stood and breathed .... Dressing room, Vishnevsky's ointment, diesel fuel, barnyard aromas. Sunflower oil, chips, rotting foliage, a little mint. At times, almost phantomically, berry jam and fruit in syrup pop up.
The taste is bright, oily, sweet. Soot, coniferous herbal shades, medical theme, smoke, vanilla, some spices, cocoa.
The finish is long. Smoke, soot, spices, chocolate shades, citrus zest.
Conclusion. Decent six year old Laphroaig. Sufficiently saturated, bright and not scarce in shades and half-tones of whisky. Not a trace of the barrel remained, perhaps the refill was not in the first generation, but what a class of peat derivatives at the same time.
Very comfortable for its age and strength, super.

Quality. This was a sample courtesy of peatbogger .

Nose

Brand new car tyre and empty sea shell. There are some medicinal notes but they are very much in the background and that's how I prefer it. Very fresh, clean and earthy.

Taste

This is serious smoke, it's like chewing on a piece of charcoal but in a good extreme way. A bonfire bonanza and the taste buds have been cremated and all that remains is ash. Also there is a taste of Indian tonic water.

Finish

A very long and sooty finish. The aftertaste is like I've smoked a cigarette but without the sickly feeling.

Jo, great. Young and hearty, but already far for six years. If you like young Islay smokers (and I would also like to have a Laphroaig 10 CS for that), you'll feel right at home with him.

Nose

A wonderful nose with the best from the sea, from the street and from Station 1 of the County Hospital: seaweed, seaweed, salt, the smell of salt water on pebbles, marine diesel, engine oil, hot tar flickering in the sun, disinfectants and Wound dressing (new and unused). Without end, smoke that does not pass. Is there fruit, somewhere? Not really, too brute, no flowers, no bees.

Taste

So it goes on then on the tongue, prisoners are not made. Strong phenolic smoke, with your head over the tea maker, take a deep breath. Salt comes behind it, as well as algae and a breeze from the mudflats. Licorice. For six years, you do not necessarily notice it, it looks - despite the outrageous - more mature.

Finish

Medium-long and dry, still strong smoke and tar, salt & licorice. Here's a hint of fruit sweetness. Maybe some lime.

Cloves Cardamom - Cinnamon - Seasoned Bacon Cube -

Taste

Immediately comes smoke and his youth he conceals well. Very fruity with a little vanilla Even some wood can be felt He also has good control over his alcohol.

Finish

dry - medium-long slight bitterness

Great. His young age you do not notice him at all. For the former issue price of 65 € an absolute must.

Nose

Typical Laphroaigrauch, clove and cinnamon

Taste

Dark berries. And the sweetness is well integrated with the smoke. Likewise, a certain Ledrig- and Nussigkeit.

Finish

Medium-length finish. Cinnamon and dark berries as well as the sweetness with the smoke now in the foreground.

A young Laphroaig of course in the body can not be as rich as an older .... Nose delicious peat and smoke ... first saulecker, young and wild ... by a good price / performance ratio, he has quite around the 89th Earned points
