Whisky Reviews for Glenallachie 2008 MBl
9 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 84.77 points
- Strong, light and fresh whisky. The white wine influences are obvious and fit this whisky well, resulting in a pleasant dram for sure.
Fruity, strong alcohol, something champaign-like, grapes. Also a lot of sweetness, 'schuimblokken', citrus.
Fresh, pretty pickering, white wine influence is obvious. Vanilla, citrus, full taste, orange.
Still pretty strong, pickering, sweet and fruity. White wine, grapes, vanilla, pretty long finish.
- Very unusual, but also tasty. No whisky for every day, but very exciting, I have the feeling the wine barrel is clearly noticeable. I really like it.
very fresh, hay, grass, sweet and sour, light grapes, the alcohol tingles in the nose, slightly metallic, gooseberries, carambola
strong start with strong alcohol, but quickly subsides, sweet and sour, grape seeds, light grapes, a few gooseberries, then clearly sour and bitter
the bitterness remains, as do the grape seeds, and the slight sourness also resonates
very fruity, vanilla, slightly cheese, wine
with water: more fruity
strong on the palate
very spicy, dark fruits
- Balance sheet (21) It is not bad (86)
Sweet, glazed fruit ... light herbal motifs ... plum compote ... pastry (22)
The taste is young, sour ... fruity-sticky (21)
Finish sharp, citrus and oak viscosity ... salt and pepper candy ... mukaltin
- A crazy flavor, that's something completely different. I like that very much!
- Riesling finish (or as it's wrong on the label "Reisling" ^^) I've never had - I'm curious:
Nose: grape must, cereal biscuits with nuts, malty, sweetish herbs and a bit mineral earthy, honey sweetness, the alcohol is super integrated. In addition to the malt / grain note that is typical of young Malts, there is definitely something very special - it would never have come close to a Riesling finish, but if you are looking for it, you will definitely find the influence. The nose is very tasty and hungry.
Taste: soft malty onset, then tingling (not from the alcohol more like a sparkling wine), honey and gooseberry, glucose, herbs In the finish, then again fruity and sweet but then quickly dry and mineral, the tingling flashes again briefly and then leaves in the long finish a flavor of peanut butter and a little oak bitterness. Wow - that's an experience of a different kind. Fruity Naughty and tingling on one side, earthy and nutty on the other! Great unique bottling that is worth its money. No high flyer but very good and just different!
