Whisky Reviews for Ledaig 10-year-old Cl

I like Ledaig and this one fits right up my alley.
    • Nose
Sweet and peaty, smoked meat, diesel, salty liquorice, citrus fruit, some tropical fruits, cinnamon, vanilla, malt. After a while there is some wet wood, tobacco and something like an ashtray full of ash.
    • Taste
Full and firm, peat, again some smoked meat, some citrus, cinnamon and some creamy toffee.
    • Finish
Reasonable long finish, peat with some tobacco. Becomes somewhat dry with some sweetness and fruitiness, liquorice.

Beautiful smoke - without a punch in the face - with fine and delicate wood aromas and warm waffles with cherries, resin, salty, Seventy euros, when I bought it I thought that much for a bottle of good whisky, nowadays I know better - this is a bottle of very good whisky for only seven tens. There is also some liquorice and oddly enough caramel in the aftertaste.

Nose: Peaty and smoky as expected but there's some fruits as well. Caramel fudge to top it off.

Taste: Red fruit, berries, sweet honey notes. Again some caramel. The peatsmoke is there but not too much.

Finish: Nice and long. The sweetness of the red fruit circles around the smoky peat notes.

The octave certainly did its job, giving this a new layer that most ex-bourbon matured Ledaig don't have. That's not to say that this is better per se than your average 10 year old Ledaig from a bourbon cask, because those can be excellent. It is however different, and absolutely delicious too.
    • Nose
Fresh, vegetal peat with a touch of lemon and some broccoli as well... Hints of salty bacon, smoked paprika powder and cured meat, with finally some black peppercorns.
    • Taste
Ashy, lots of charcoal and very smoky. The bacon makes an encore, as does the cured meat. There's a subtle spiciness, as well as a hint of cigarette tobacco. Quite delicious.
    • Finish
Lingers on peat. Slightly drying. Long...
