- Has really surprised me now.
Shining gold with a light reddish tint
A nice, thick caramel and custard welcome you. Pickled berries. A touch of gum and slightly sour tangerine. A really great nose. With a little time in the glass it gets sweeter. Sugared raisins, sweet grapes and plum liqueur.
In the beginning really spicy cereal notes. Nutty bitterness and a nice smoke trail. In the taste less sweet, more sour and dry. Reminiscent of a dry red wine. With berries, a little licorice and slightly salty lye pastry. The 46% are great with whisky.
Medium long and rather spicy. Will neatly dry and nutty. Espresso and some smoke.
RE: Batch 7, a 1yo spirit at 15ppm, matured in bourbon with an ex-red wine finish.
N&T: A well rounded malt that appears far less resinous against similar comparable young spirits from other new distilleries. Could that be the red wine effect, a la Cotswolds? The nose possesses a semblance of a drying maturity.
F: Later I pick up a touch of dry oaky cream. Super finish actually, considering.
C: Another impressive & characterful young spirit that will soon to be turning into whisky.
Scores a C-
- good and with hope for the future!

- A very nice start for R & B Distillers, if not their original material
Wild berries from the bush, such as sour wine, mixed rosé and red, heather grass, a hint of sulfur / smoked aromas further back, dried strawberries, light honey and toffee
Here, too, mixed the same, red and rosé wine, with almost a kind of carbon dioxide also, cinnamon, heather grass, oregano, thyme, rosemary, grapefruit, unripe raspberries and strawberries, vanilla and cinnamon
The smoked aromas again more, dry-smoked, dry berries, oregano, medium-dark malt, medium-long
- Quite a good starter for Raasay, reminds me of Talisker Port Ruighe and GlenDronach Peated Port Wood.Concerning price/performance ratio: 7/10
Sweet wine (some sweet red/rose wine), dried red fruits (strawberries, raspberries), berries, hints of vanilla, hints of smoke.
Sweet wine, unripe strawberries and raspberries, cinnamon, getting dry and a bit bitter, some spicyness.
Medium. Hints of BBQ with red fruits, dry smoky oak.
