This is how a good, young bourbon barrel must taste, great whisky and not just for the summer, brings you really directly to a nice bar somewhere on the coast on the terrace with a champagne and pear drink. Delicious.
    • Nose
Interesting nose, so behave at first, a very special blend of pear juice and flowery, with almonds, white chocolate, peach, white wine, vanilla, white sugar, something like Nivea, fresh hand cream, a little sour raspberries in between
    • Taste
Peach comes up at first, actually reminds me of a high-quality, old peach spirit from France that stands here, apricot, beautiful pear, white wine, champagne, white sugar, fresh lip balm, tart raspberries, vanilla, marzipan, a hint of cinnamon, light tobacco, Esther notes, some nutmeg and white pepper at the back
    • Finish
White wine, light grapes, marzipan and green tea, in addition the pear and green apple now, nice mixture of acidity, a little bitterness, sweetness, etc., medium long

    Mannochmore 2005 SMWS 64.94 WID: 100019
    11 years refill ex-bourbon barrel

Nose: subtle and floral, perfume, pirsich, fructose, a hint of vanilla

Taste: Peach, fruit brandy, citrus notes, slightly creamy, pear, soft but voluminous, subtle malty sweetness

Finish: slight bitterness, medium length, white wine mouse, pear nectar, clothes the mouth

Conclusion: interesting summer whisky, which can be very subtle and closed. It is fun to experiment with some water and it opens new facets. But I think that I have to spend a few evenings with this colleague.

  5. mandragoru did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    SMWS tasting notes:

We found the nose quite calming, with its gentle fruitiness (pear orchards in summer), subtle perfumes (hand cream, lip balm, talc) cocoa powder and vanilla custard slice. The palate was unexpectedly deep and intense – with pear, peach and raspberry jam fruitiness, salted caramel chocolate and manzanilla, then light cumin and fenugreek on the finish. The nose became even more inviting with water – jelly babies, orange blossom and magnolia, creamy vanilla and after dinner mints, with little hints of tobacco and pepper trailing behind. The reduced palate was sweeter, charming and very easy-drinking – juicy pear, peppered strawberries and fruit-flavoured churchwarden pipe tobacco.
