Okay, I did not want to change it. This one has underlined my curiosity. My first Mackmyra, clearly young in taste, and then another from the sweet cherry wine barrel. It's an experience, but it does not taste like whisky. For curious people worth a try, and the not so paints-affine visit, he could also taste. ;-) (The 80 points for the daring cherry finish.)
    • Nose
sweet, juicy-fruity, sweet cherries (of course !!), redcurrants, plums, apple compote with cinnamon, vanilla, cotton candy, caramelized apple and banana, orange peppered with carnation, sawdust of fresh wood, a bit of smoke
    • Taste
sweet, fruity, oak tingles - huh, is that whisky ?? Never had anything sweet in the glass - sweet cherries lie over everything, together with ginger, cinnamon and cloves, a little vanilla, a carving of fresh sweet orange, again a little banana and apple, a little harsh kumquat peel - but all superimposing a squeaky sweetness of sweet cherry wine Finish, liquid cotton candy ... if it makes a big skull? But I have only one sample ...
    • Finish
at best medium long, flat, the squeaky sweet cherry sweetness as well as the mulled wine spices and the sweet and bitter kumquat peel and a hint of smoke remain the longest ...

Cherry schnapps? Or wisniowka vodka with oak maturing barley.

Very delicious. A great pair for desert.

Sweet, fruit and dangerous. The potency of cherry is probably an overdose.

Long and lingering mouthfeel. The cherry coats the mouth like an intense cough syrup would.

Extensive tasting with photos and information: https://dramned.blog/2017/11/10/mackmyra-moment-koersbaer-47/
    • Nose
Sweet and fruity aromas, which are gradually condensing into a kind of roasted red porridge. Red, sweet, tart, sugary. As with the Blomstertid, cherry flavors are already quite omnipresent, but without completely taking the helm. In addition to herbal redcurrants, mild plums and ripe bananas also play along. A subtle vanilla and sweet caramel notes complete everything still nice. In addition to the fruit, I also have very spicy wood notes, as if you had planed with a planer fresh thick shavings from an oak beam. But also aromatic sandalwood. Also a clear salt note, reminiscent of a ham in the salt mantle - for a Mackmyra already quite unusual. I hardly feel alcohol.
    • Taste
Caramelised orange slices flambéed with kirsch melt on the tongue - what a start! Sweet-sour, it runs tingling voluminös over the tongue. At first the nose was rather fruity and sweet, so it is very impressive here also hard wood right at the front. A constant wonderful interplay between ever-changing sweet fruit flavors and dry spicy oak notes. The fruits are noticeably more differentiated than in the nose. In addition to the cherries, plums and bananas already described, I also have very massive citrus fruits such as grapefruit and juicy-sweet oranges, which stimulate the salivation enormously with their acidity. Also beautiful dark spices like cloves and cinnamon and bitter nutmeg fill the whole mouthful of the aromatic. And again and again the sweet wood counteracting the dry wood. A real experience! Again, the alcohol is not disturbing, but only serves the full Aromentransport.
    • Finish
In the never-ending finish chewing for a really long time on juicy cherries and sweet oranges around. Since I hardly have oak, everything echoes fruity and sweet and spicy long.

Lovely sweet Mackmyra that will go down well with dessert on Christmas Eve. It has a price tag of around 120 EUR.
    • Nose
This Mackmyra is true to its name on the nose, for cherries clearly dominate. I even get some Maraschino cherries. Then some Christmas cake with candied apples, pineapple and almonds. The whole is sprinkled with some lovely dark sherry. Some late vanilla and chocolate arrive.
    • Taste
The body is somewhat light, but nicely spicy. Black pepper and mint precede the sweet fruit. Again cherries, but also strawberries and apples, some dark chocolate and woodsmoke. The vanilla turns into toffee, while the chocolate becomes dark. A slight bitterness towards the end.
    • Finish
That bitterness continues in the – albeit quite long – finish and is, in my opinion, the only downside to this malt, which all in all is a very nice Mackmyra.

My first Mackmyra and I are torn. The basic trend of the whisky is very positive. Great fruit flavors, the cherry wine barrels are beautifully presented. Overall, but a bit too much and little intense, could that be at a very young age? Price unfortunately completely over the top. For currently € 120, the market is easily better alternatives. But who likes sweet-fruity dessert wines and experiments, may like to try.
    • Nose
Judging by the color but then relatively pale at first. There are a distinct cherries a little apple juice and fruit sweetness, overall, the Körsbär but then surprisingly restrained, seems a bit on top. The alcohol flashes as such a note every now and then, does not seem very clean involved. After a while, vanilla will pop up again and again.
Too bad, the basic tendency here is absolutely positive, the flavors themselves also damn promising and delicious. The Körsbär will not really get into your nose.
    • Taste
At first mild and tame, after a short time but then quite gripping. As in the nose here, the beautiful fruit flavors noticeable, but not really grippy and voluminous enough. Again, a tiny alcoholic note, but now less disturbing than the nose. A little spice and a slight hint of smoke (?). A subtle fruit note (pear) comes up again and again, in between a few red berries and also here - cherries.
    • Finish
With a little benevolence a medium-length finish, the end of which is then carried by a gentle smoky, accompanied by some oak. Positive that the fruit sweetness can still prevail here.
