Pronounced LOCH-na-GAR Meaning little loch of the noisy summit.

The present Lochnagar  distillery dates from 1845 when it was built by John Begg. Begg's distillery was known as the New Lochnagar until it earned it's Royal prefix as a result of a visit by Queen Victoria and her family while staying at neighbouring Balmoral Castle in 1848. This is the smallest operational distillery owned by Diageo plc.
