We took my parents, who live nearby, here for a Christmas treat end of 2019 when the 2nd release was nearly out. It was already difficult to buy the first release. The maturing malts also did very well.
We started in the cafe with a the special high tea with champagne. The typical English sandwiches and bakery were brought on A-Frame wooden holders with slate trays for the food. They also supply a good selection of fine ales. There are windows from the cafe looking direct into the distillery barn. Lots to watch whilst enjoying the good food and drinks.
The pot-still distillery tour was also a high-light. The staff are all very personable (typical Yorkshire). The most interesting thing we learned was that there is no need to lock the spirit safe in England! This is law in Scotland though. Another proof for me that the United Kingdom retained sovereignty within the EU! Kim
For anyone visiting East Yorkshire, you can also visit a micro-brewery in Goodmanham run by a former school friend of mine. She and her husband run the Goodmanham Arms and offer home-made British and Italian food. :)
