Whiskybase

The Tsunuki distillery was built on the historic whisky production site of the Hombo Shuzo Co., where the closed Kagoshima distillery was located (closed 1984). It was built at a cost of about 500 million yen (almost US$5m) and contains one mill, one mash tun, five washbacks and one pair of stills. The wash still has a capacity of 5800 liters, and the spirit still that of 3300 liters.

The distillery has it's own cellars for aging, of which some Shinshu whisky had been aged here prior to production starting in Tsunuki.
