About Glenkinchie

Glenkinchie is one of the few remaining Lowland distilleries, located just outside Edinburgh in East Lothian. Established in the early 19th century under the name Milton before taking its current name in the 1830s, it faced bankruptcy and closures in the 19th century but was later revived and became part of the Scottish Malt Distillers group. Owned by Diageo since 1997, Glenkinchie sends most of its output into blends—primarily for Diageo’s portfolio—but has gained visibility since 1998 as the Lowland representation in the Classic Malts series.
