The two stills have been changed around 1850. Totally rebuilt and expanded 1896-1898. Mothballed 1931-1938.  Closed 1941-45. The two pot stills gets steam-heated 1961. Floor-malting ends 1965. A new Clynelish distillery gets built right across the road in 1966-67. Brora closes 1968, but Port Ellen's runs out of water during the summer so 28th December Brora covers up. In 1972-1974 Caol Ila were rebuilt and Brora closes again! The mash house rebuilt 1974-75. Today it seems to almost be dismantled.......
