A note on my approach to scoring:

100-95: Perfection, nothing better.

95-90: Exceptional, a memorable dram.

90-85: Excellent, well above most whiskies.

85-80: Great, I would seek this out.

80-75: Good to Average with few issues.

75-70: Alright, not inspiring, but not fundamentally flawed.

70-65: Acceptable, I would accept a pour but never order.

65-60: Passable, deeply flawed, or just not my cup of tea.

* I have gone through many rating scales over the years; I started with letters +/-, then 1-10, and now I split my time between using the 100 point scale on whiskybase and an abbreviated 1-10 scale on my personal site.  I love doing tasting notes and sharing my thoughts on a whisky, but I do not enjoy assigning scores which occasionally feel a tad arbitrary, but which are often an expected part of any review to provide a tl;dr of an experience.

Ruadh Maor - For the members of Whiskybase

Selected a few months ago because we think it will appeal to a group of whisky drinkers. If you are looking for a nice drinking whisky: Ruadh Maor from Berry Bro's & Rudd for the Members of Whiskybase. A peated Glenturret matured in a sherry butt, not your average lemonade and a pleasant surprise. Limited to 120 bottles, we are not sure where the rest of the contents went. This bottle is now available in our shop.
