If you are hopping from one Speyside distillery to another, it can be quite refreshing to do something different in between. Why not visit the Speyside Cooperage to get known to the hard work that is done here?

The tour begins with a short introduction video before a guide takes you to the gallery on second floor from where you can observe the cooper's work in the main hall. You get an explanation about different cask types, sizes and daily routines, and you are free to take pictures. They even have some miniature barrels in pieces which you can try to assemble if you feel fit for that task.

At the end of the tour, you get a little plastic cup with whisky liquor + honey which is not a great event. The shop doesn't offer anything of greater interest unless you care about wooden art made from retired oak casks.

Considering the entrance fee of only £2.50, I highly recommend visiting the cooperage!

Voor de drank hoef je er natuurlijk niet heen. maar het is wel geweldig om te zien hoe ze hier de vaten (her)maken. dus eigenlijk een must voor de geïnteresseerde liefhebbers.

The surprise hit of our tour, the Speyside Cooperage tour was an eye-opener. Cheers to the men and women who work behind the scenes to bring the best wood against our favorite drams.

Great to see the ART of traditional handwork.
Tools and Techniques of the trade are in plain view to see.

I'll raise a dram to the coopers for doing an awesome job.

Keep up doing the good work, so the distilleries can barrel their new spirit.

Slainthe!
