1089-MAY LOAG DIAMOND 10 yo SHERRY CASK FINISH IRISH WHISKEY 46%
...if it weren't for that rather strong, sharp pepperiness, May Long 10 yo would be more than good (the concept of "good" has different meanings). It's actually quite decent. If we turn a blind eye, or rather, blunt the salivary glands on the organ, the tongue, we'll see that it's a solid piece of work. It looks interesting, and you can get used to the "liquid" with time.
    • Nose
...the first moment is dried fruit alternating with dried aromatic tobacco. Over time, more fruit, coconut, raisins, and plums emerge. There's vegetation and greenery here, which brings to mind a slightly rum-like atmosphere. I check the empty one—and there's sweetish tobacco, a bit of chocolate, polished cherry wood, and dry leaves. I return to the full one—the alcohol is neatly composed with a hint of vanilla and oak. It's not bad and encourages you to try it.
    • Taste
...it tastes sweet, very marzipan-like, warming with the spiciness of spices, especially the blend of ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and... chili. The rather noticeable sweetness somewhat offsets this spiciness. The liquid is slightly oily, nutty. Honeyed, a bit of dried fruit, and now peppery, even spicy. The final touch before the finish - sweet oak, dried fruit, cuckoo candy seasoned with alcohol. A bar of dried cherries and coconut flakes. This excessive spiciness makes it seem like there are more "percentages" here than on the label.
    • Finish
...Medium to long, with lingering sweetness, light notes of nuttiness, oak, and spice. There's a rum aftertaste, a faint trace of almond. Citrusy and, unfortunately, prickly.
