Yes, big earthquake tonight but located roughly 100 miles north of LA. No problems really identified in LA. However, my two boys are working at summer camp, less than 50 miles from the epicenter. Please keep your thoughts positive for those located in the Ridgecrest area. They are going to be experiencing a lot of shaking over the next several months and I have no idea how much damage has occurred in their area.

I was on Vancouver Island about 20 years ago and there was a small earthquake during the night that lasted about 2 seconds and even that was bad enough, so my thoughts go out to them and hope everyone is okay.
I'd much rather be someone's shot of whisky than everyone's cup of tea.

Things are going well but the aftershocks are trending toward a couple of major faults capable of generating very large quakes. Let's hope they die out and don't trigger a large quake on these other faults.
