So.. I've noticed the new 15 revival going around. Would love to know your opinion of how it is and how it stands up to the old bottling. I have an old sample here but no new 15 on the Dutch market as of yet.

It's a distillery release for the first few months, from what I remember. Then will be more normal release afterwards. So not too many people will have had a chance to get one yet.

Anyone who's interested: 21.45 GMT there's a very nice livestream on a YouTube channel called Aqvavitae with a h2h tasting of GlenDro15 old vs new. See you there?

Yes, but what is meant by "old"?  I have a 1990s bottle in the closet.

In this context "old" is pre 2015 as that's when it was discontinued.

also, this was the last point at which pre-mothballed whisky would have been a major part of the 15 (since Allied Distributors took over and resumed production in 2001)... not to mention any 15yr bottled between 2011 and the discontinuation would have been older than 15 (since the distillery was shuttered in 1996), which might give it a bit of an advantage in a H2H with the new stuff...  but we shall see.

It seems both 15's are very different, but the new 15 is no let-down. What baffles me the most is that the new Revival is around 75/85 euros whereas the old Revival (when still on stock) was priced at 40/45 euros. But hey, the Old P. 17 was 70 euros, the new 18 is 115.. the times we live in.

The Whisky Barrel's ad for the revival of the Revival starts with "The return of a legend".   That seems a bit of a stretch.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious that it's not the same whisky just based on the casks used.  Yes, same (theoretical) age profile. Yes, sherried casks.  Yes, Glendronach.  I fully expect I'll enjoy the whisky but it's neither a legend or a return of anything other than a name.  Although I am concerned about the price point it may come in at here in Canada.

If I had to take a guess I'd say probably in the $125-130 CDN area... at least in my region.
