Tonight I will raise a glass to legendary Blue Peter presenter John Noakes who has just died at the age of 83 . John and Shep are reunited. John was a one off, back in the day he would have a go at anything, much to every kids delight.

Much as I was sad to hear this news, John Noakes and his family had experienced a rough few years since the alzheimers diagnosis. I will certainly raise a glass in his memory for many years of pleasure and hilarity. AS mad as that dog (and baby elephant)

I share your sentiments about Roy Barraclough - a wonderful side-kick to Les Dawson. A very funny man. I didnt watch much Corrie but the characters I remember were those that brought humour to the show - Jean Alexander; Bernard Youens; Geoffrey Hughes; John Savident and Roy Barraclough - all now sadly passed on.

Chester Bennington, of Linkin Park fame.

Another rock & roll suicide.  Word has it he was great friends with Chris Cornell, even spoke at his funeral...  today would have been Cornell's birthday. I wonder if that was a catalytic factor.  Can't be a coincidence.

I may not be a Linkin Park fanatic myself, but there's no question this chap had a significant impact on the landscape of popular music, particularly after the turn of the century.

Shocking, it's as if the Devil is cashing in his chips "excuse me, but didn't you sign here "

I met Honey Boy Edwards in a bar in Newcastle about 20 years ago , I sat at a table and had a drink with him, he told me some stories and he knew Robert Johnson really well and yes he told me about that night, as a blues fan it doesn't get any better than that.

His legacy will live on but one person who didn't deserve to die so young. Currently Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory Album is number one in itunes charts.

Tonight, a 100 years ago, the start of the battle of Passchendaele meant the beginning of one of the most idiotic and senseless bloodbaths in military history. So I raise a glass to the 170'000 people who lost their lives in this 105 day long massacre. We will remember them

I am raising a glass now to Robert Hardy, a great British actor of film and TV who I can't believe was 91, he really looked well, and to Hywell Bennett, another great British actor who I remember for playing Shelly and the film Twisted Nerve.
