Your most prized Octomore, and your most elusive?

My most prized bottle is definitely the Octomore 01.1.

I remember being on Islay, at the Bruichladdich distillery where - after a great tour - I tried to make a deal with our tour guide. She (the lovely Becky who recently got her very own Valinch bottling) did not believe I could purchase a bottle cheaper anywhere else. The auction I was participating in closed the day after, ending at a full 50 pounds cheaper. Good feeling, although I now regret not buying both. happy

Close second is the Octomore 02.1.

This was the first bottle I ever bought and opened. A colleague of mine got me into the peat monsters, and I've loved them ever since.

There is a few elusive ones (see my wishlist; these are the bottles I need to achieve 100% collection completeness), but I think the most unicorn-like one at this time is the RBTW Cask 897 Octomore. I am pretty sure the details are incorrect in the WB database, but I am yet to see a bottle for sale anywhere to prove it.

My most prized bottle is the Octomore 07.4  https://www.whiskybase.com/whisky/77393/octomore-edition-074-167 It's simply my favourite and so far the best scotch I've ever had. It's been 6 months or so since I last had it and I think about it at least 4-5 times a week. Looking forward toward the next open bottle!

My top four in descending order are;

The most elusive one is Octomore Edition 02.2 https://www.whiskybase.com/whisky/12204/octomore-edition-022-140 Really would like to experience that bottle.

My most prized (and my only bottle so far) is the 01.1 - I've wanted one for a long time and couldn't believe my eyes when I spotted bottle number 0002 (out of 6000) at an auction recently - that's the one I have. God knows where bottle number 0001 is - maybe in a display cabinet at BL.

And indeed, the cask 897 bottle I mentioned in my opening post is the one standing between me and the end of a quest that has taken years...

My most prized Octomore has changed to the Octomore 2009 - Octomore Farm.

Not only because it was the last bottle I needed to complete the collection, but also because I enjoyed a dram with Mr. James Brown himself, at his house! We sat in a room in his house up the hill in Port Charlotte, overlooking the surroundings and his cattle, and he even played a little on a bagpipe blowpipe.

Terrific guy, and a terrific whisky!

Octomore farms - both of them and the OBAs. I lucked into two of each! I was not into Octomore in time to get a 1.1 or 2.1 but got 3.1 and 5.1 at  auction. Got into Octomore around 6.1. Ever hopeful though although prices mean that I am always tempted to buy several more recent bottles instead happy. Been to the distillery twice boths time were the best. Last years Feis was phenomenal! Pity I can't make this one.
