Octomore's surprising delicacy

Gents,

A friend of mine and I were tasting different peated whiskies a few days ago, ending with an open bottle of Octomore 02.1 of mine.

A simple stat comparison (ppm level, %ABV, age) could lead one to expect the Octomore to be towering in aggression and punch. We found this to not be true, or at least not to the extent such stats would suggest. Likely Bruichladdich's tall and narrow stills play a key role in achieving such surprising delicacy (the well-know velvet glove).

It makes me wonder... what would an Octomore distilled in a much lower and wider still be like? God knows what kind of beast that would awaken, but I would definitely want to try it!

Cheers!

Oh, if Jim McEwan was still master distiller and read this? I think it would give him some great ideas!

One life... Drink it well
