Octomore 8?

Has anyone heard of when or if there will be an Octomore 8 release? We are now 2 months away from the end of 2016 and there is no mention of any new Octomore release on the horizon. 2016 would be the first year without a release since their first release in 2008.

Here is the first rating of the new Octomore 2006 10yo release https://www.whiskybase.com/whisky/86882/2006 Unfortunately no notes. For some reason it's still not up on Bruichladdich wesite https://www.bruichladdich.com/octomore

So it looks like the 8s won't be far behind? Anxious to see what the 8s will be and how many? Last year there was 4 different 7 releases.

I'm waiting for the newest bottling too. What's your preference for peat level? The owner of my local whisky shop mentioned that the 258 ppm of the 06.3 put some fans off. I personally loved it; I'd be interested to see where my taste buds protest and say "enough already". happy

I'm with you Lord Octomore! Right now the 6.3, 7.4, 7.3 and 7.1 are my faves (in that order). I would like to taste one in the mid 300s just to see where that takes the Octomore rang.happy

I would like a bottle of Octomore OBA. I want to exchange this bottle for a bottle of Octomore 2.2. Who is interested?

Excellent!

After mid-August, my collection will  be complete (visiting Mr. James Brown himself on my next Islay visit), so I can focus on the new bottlings solely rather than the detective work to complete my quest, and perhaps add a new distillery to my particular interest list. A little birdy told me some interesting news about Jim McEwan. :D

Where do you get your news holborn? BL's site does not mention it yet, but it is on MoM.

More releases, more bottles per release, and higher prices per bottle. Do you think this will impact the popularity of the spirit? It was already prohibitely expensive for some whisky drinkers, and that's only set to increase...

I recall being able to snatch up the 3.1, 4.1, 5.1, and most of the 06's and 07's for around 100 euro. The 08's are older, but I seem to recall that the first 10 yo was also cheaper than these new bottles.

Some of the bottles like the 8.1 are available to pre-order (Green Welly was selling it) - others like the 8.2 you'd have to pick up at the airport.

From last year but an interesting read; "OCTOMORE 08.3 IS ‘WORLD’S PEATIEST’ SCOTCH" https://scotchwhisky.com/magazine/latest-news/15546/octomore-08-3-is-world-s-peatiest-scotch/

I found this today; Bruichladdich Octomore 8.1 & 8.3 review 18min https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFRiwJ-XIrk I found the tasting notes quite comical. I never read distiller's tasting notes before or after drinking any of my bottles (that would be like going to a sales man to find out why you should buy what they are selling). And after watching this, I was right.
