When you follow this link:
http://whiskybase.com/whisky/330/springbank-21-year-old
you will find the Springbank 21 y.o. from 2005. When you look at both pictures you see a label without a small tekst on the (from the viewers point) right side and the bottle with this tekst. The tekst is: 1 of 2.400 bottles worldwide.
I think the bottle is the 2005 version and the label is from the 1998 version.
Can anyone confirm this?

I think you're right.
Could also be that the picture of the bottle is right but that the label is from the 1998 version?

I bought a bottle that is supposedly a 1998. It doesn't have the text on the side but it also doesn't have a gold impression on the top. My top is even black! (like on the photo in the base).
However, the picture of the 1998 21 y.o. has a gold impression on the top so I'm confused!

Springbank doesn't care too much about the different caps they used. Sometimes they used different caps in the same batch.

Yes, that´s really true it's also a mess with Longrows and different caps there are far more variations than shown in the database - ask Michiel Wigman - he once destroyed all my hope to be able to have a complete collection of Longrows with this. So the cap will not be extremely useful for the decision.

How about the small tekst on the label? Any suggestions about that?

My bottle doesn't have this text on the right side of the label, has no jagged edged label (so a straight one) and has a plain black cap. Has a white 'S'.No print on the inside of the front label. Has the bottle code ' 01/89 15/5/01 SPRINGBANK' printed on the lower side of the bottle. The back label mentions the exclusive distributors for Belgium and the Netherlands.
From what year is my bottle???
Thanks.

01/89 normally means 2001 filling 89 at Springbank. It should be distilled then in 1980. It looks like it's currently not listed in the base but available at http://www.whiskykoning.nl. I hope this helps.
