Nose

Very peaty and un-Bunny like. Incense and lint. Dried tea. Fabric softener. Water loosens it up a bit and allows cereal notes to emerge.

Taste

More peat. Slightly stinging delivery, but delicious. Gets you chewing right away. Strong tea and chewing tobacco. A little creosote? The flavours are remarkably focused even when water is added

Finish

Longish and definitely chewy. Still this concentration of flavours centred around the peat. Water does little to ease that.

Comments

I don't really get any of the Bunnahabhain character in this dram. The peat is overwhelming and perhaps a little disappointing for that. Don't get me wrong this is not unpleasant drinking, but the unrelenting peatiness may be an acquired taste. It reminds me of the current Classic of Islay NAS CS which I grew to love and now miss. I think I could learn to love this too.

It's better to have drunk it all than never to have drunk at all.
