Nose

Mellow with notes of fruit loop breakfast cereals and vanilla. The fruity aromas remind me of Juicy Fruit chewing gum, strawberry puree and Crepe Suzette Sauce. Nice and pleasant.

Taste

Surprisingly strong - tastes like chewing orange peels.

Malty with notes of Golden Delicious apples, fudge and cake. Quite some oaky aromas as well.
Finish

White pepper, oaky, slightly dry and bitter.

Comments

Good, but the different decades are not really harmonising.

Nose

Fruité (orange, pomme, raisin), vanille, délicatement malté, caramel.

Taste

Colour: Gold
Aroma: Soft fruits, delicate vanilla, hint of smoke
Palate: Soft peat, forest fruits, vanilla soft sweetness
Finish: Balanced, light, earthy, lingering

The
influence of a small amount of peat, which they have been using in a
small number of batches of spirit since 2005, added yet another
dimension to what is a very versatile whisky.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: A lovely sweet maltiness gives way to juicy, fruity aromas of fresh peach, apple and pear with gentle hints of dried apricots and raisins. Delicate flowery notes sit on top of rich pine and robust oak wood. The hint of a distant smouldering fire wafts about in the background.
Palate: The taste buds are tantalised by intense flavours of tropical fruit, rich Christmas cake, aniseed, cinnamon and creamy fudge. The rich malty sweetness returns with a nutty edge.
Finish: Mellow and memorable, like the man himself.

The colour is gold, the nose has sweet malt aromas of peaches, apples, pears, apricots, raisins and smoke. The palate is nice and fruity with notes of cake and cinnamon; the finish is smooth, rather long, with fruits and smoke. Nice dram!

Nose

Starts buttery and milky, with hints of vanilla ice cream. Soon these notes are overtaken by juicy fruits: stewed apples, peaches, but also faint tropical notes. Dried fruits on a lower level as well as some marzipan and caramel. Even some traces of peat. Nicely layered, plenty of things to discover.

Taste

Creamy again (fruits with whipped cream, yum). Apples, orange sherbet, papaya... Vanilla and cinnamon. Faint butterscotch notes. Sweetish, fresh and balanced.

Finish

Medium long, hints of drying oak now, and soft spices.

Comments

This Tomatin Decades is well composed. It's nice to see the typical 1960-1970's fruitiness mixed with vibrant flavours and a creaminess from the younger casks. Fair pricing as well.
