Color

Gin clear

Nose

old and fresh at the same time, nice balance of sherry w dried plums, malt & honey, chocolate & lemon, some leather, also a slightly floral / tropical note w some coconut and some beeswax/resin in the back that greatly add to depth and balance when they appear. (88/92)

Taste

sherry, chocolate syrup, tobacco, pears & some faint tropical fruit juice, (91).
Later: occasionally there's a slightly rubbery note on the palate (88)

Finish

more sherry & chocolate, slightly rum-y, malty, coconut, icing sugar, honey (89/93)

Comments

Slightly moody as it seems, sometimes utterly brilliant, sometimes a bit underwhelming, especially when seeing age & price. Seemed to fare better in tastings next to others.

 

Remember - whisky scores and impressions are highly subjective and situational by nature - so don't go and buy whisky according to someone else's taste...
