posted 29 May. 2013

Bottler`s Notes :

Colour : Straw gold.

Nose : Sweet and fruity, apple blossom, spice and a touch of ginger.

Palate : Good mouthfeel, soft oily texture, green tea, sweet yet savoury.

Conclusion : Unusual and rare offering.

Nose

The nose starts rather grainy. Petit Beurre-cookies. Vanilla. The sweetness translates further into young, green apples and loads of citrus fruit. Some lemongrass too. With effort I even get some pineapple cubes and white chocolate, but little else. Not bad, but rather ordinary. Adding water brings out a mineral side. Beach of rocks. Now where did that association come from?

Taste

It is pretty creamy on the palate, but immediately very peppery and drying (oak!). The second sip brings out the citrus fruit and quite some honey serves as a much needed softener of the palate. Again the young grass. Reminds me of spring. With a spoon of water, it becomes a lot sweeter. It can do with that, actually.

Finish

The finish is fairly long in which the citrusfruit takes top honours.

Comments

This whisky seems younger than its 18 years. A little nervous, I would say. Better with water.

Nose
Grassy and spirity. Lots of citrus fruit, but also green apples.
Taste
Fresh and waxy. Warm oily mouthfeel. Quite strong. With water more roundness. Honey and oak. Later on more spice.
Finish
Long and dry. Becomes very salty as well.
Comments
A little bit too spirity for me. Needs water.
