Color

Pale gold

Nose

First, the bourbon casks come out, together with some vanilla notes. A bit deeper in the nose are definite fruit notes like stewed apples. A bit further still are melon and possibly a tickle of lavender.

Taste

There is definite oak at first, with some nutmeg and waxy notes. Relatively soon you can again taste the bourbon-vanilla and a bit of chocolate. The fruit from the nose is less in the taste, except from a hint of dried raisins and the stewed apples.

Finish

Oaky, with some grassy barley notes; relatively long.

Place: at home. Great gift was this bottle.

Color

Pale gold

Nose

The nose is sweet on white and red fruit (apples, pears, strawberries and raspberries) but predominantly grainy. Young animal indeed. Carton, even. Not totally unpleasant, but rather thin.

Taste

Slightly creamy on the palate, but still a bit boring. The fruit is immediately killed by a very bitter taste. Again carton. Oh, oh, this is a goner. It starts to resemble a geneva the longer you taste it. Surely, that is not meant to be?

Finish

The finish may be sweet and spicy, it remains to bitter to be called a beauty.

Comments

It costs around 35 EUR, but for that price you can also buy the Laddie Ten. My choice was easy. Thanks for the sample nonetheless, Jan!

Color

Old gold

Nose

Sweet aromas of grain, hay and with notes of citrus and a variety of fruit with apples as the most prominent

Taste

Sublime creamy taste of buttered toast and orange marmalade and barley are accompanied with delicious fruity notes. In the background is the oak is present and a slight tone of malt.

Finish

A constructive and powerful finish

A fully organic Bruichladdich, by some described as the world`s most creamy Whisky. If all organic Whisky would taste so it can still be a very popular segment, sublime palate with sweet aromas that continue to surprise the taste buds with every sip!

Raspberry, strawberry, dessert wine, tropical fruit, marmalade.

Taste

Oily body. Lemon, zest, spice, black pepper, dried squid, smoke.

Finish

Medium long. Citrus, spice, peat, charcoal, strong tea.

Comments

I had high hopes for this one. Can not really say I'm impressed by the organic stuff now. Sadly, it gets only an average mark from me. It's OK in general, - nothing more than that however.

"The second edition of Bruichladdich`s single malt whisky made with
organically-grown Scottish barley - in this case from the Mid Coul,
Coulmore and mains of Tullibardine farms. As with all of
Bruichladdich`s malts, this has been neither coloured nor
unchilfiltered. More unusually for this distillery, it hasn`t been
wine-finished either."

Nose

Nose is very poor, artificial and weird sweetness, light pine, hints of varnish, apricots, malted barley, hints of blue veined sera.

Taste

It starts with light sweetness, then light burning sensation, hints of pine, a little bit of dryness, notes of young Speyside, however not very complex nor interesting.

Finish

Short, blue veined cheese, pine and smoothness.
