Nose

Has a freshness, with creamy, sweet malt and white chocolate

Taste

Really sweet and fruity, lychees and grapefruit, oak, barley, mandarin. Pineapple chunks in yoghurt.

Finish

Honey, smoothness, lovely creamy, tropical

Aged in Glenmorangie`s specially made from using
wood from the Ozark mountains in Missouri, named Astar from the Gaelic for
journey. Creamy and tropical.

Astar is the successor of the "Artisan Cask". Aromas include vanilla, toffee, cinnamon and herbs which are followed by notes

of sweet honey, lime and lemon. The palate is spicy and contains pure tones of vanilla,
white chocolate and cocoa with hints of cinnamon, stewed pears and
apples.

Nose

Alcool, vanille, agrumes. Miel et épices, notes boisées. Plus floral avec de l'eau.

Taste

Vanille, miel, fruits exotiques, bois, un peu d'épices douces et du poivre. Avec de l'eau : caramel en début de bouche.

Finish

Longue et boisée avec la puissance de l'alcool qui revient.

Nose

Floral and very malty. Fresh and also a little salty. Hints of chocolate and citrus. Sweetness from vanilla and honey.

Taste

Oily. Very, very sweet. Chocolate and vanilla and hints of honey. Malty.

Finish

At the beginning the sweetness from vanilla and honey. After that malty. Longlasting.

Comments

I tried this whisky with and without the addition of water. When you add water, it makes the whisky a little more "friendly" in all its elements. But I prefer to drink it without water.

Color

Nose

Big malt. Floral too with some nice fruits, orange or lemon especially. Honey and vanilla sweetness. A hint of coconut. A light prickle of spice, pineapple chocolate and oak.

Taste

More drying than I expected. A bitter edge of spice and cocoa powder, juicy fruits of pineapple, orange and apricot. Maybe a faint coffee note. Some good vanilla, honey and oak.

Finish

Medium to lengthy. The sweetness stays but is suppressed by the coffee / spice / oak note. Malt at the end with some vanilla and fruit.

Comments

A true Glenmorangie whisky. Real distillery character with the floral and vanilla notes, citrus fruit and malt. I made this tasting with water added, so I have yet to try the undiluted version. Try sniffing this a few minutes after you emptied the glass, I got a really strong chocolate note there.

Nose

The nose is extremely sweet with a truckload of vanilla, lemon curd and light spices à la nutmeg and ginger. After a little while, I get some chocolate. Very fresh, but rather simple.

Taste

There is a good attack, thanks to the new oak, with white pepper and nutmeg. The aromas from the nose return, but are upholstered with Mirabelle (the very sweet, light orange prunes with shiny skin) and pears. A touch of caramel and coconut, too. Good body. Remains very sweet throughout.

Finish

The finish is rather long, but very dry. The fruit ebbs away and the wood takes its place.

Comments

This is, despite the simplicity, one of the best Glenmos around. It has punch, which many of the standard Glenmorangie range lack a bit.

Nose

Le premier nez est alcooleux avant que cette sensation ne s'estompe, mais aussi marqué par des expressions gourmandes du bois, vanille, vanille et vanille, un soupçon de banane et de noix de coco, ainsi que de la muscade et de la sciure fraîche. De la poire après ajout d'eau. Pas désagréable, voire franchement racoleur, mais qui me laisse un peu sur ma faim.

Taste

Premier constat, l'alcool est plutôt bien maîtrisé, en tout cas à l'attaque, car le milieu de bouche se fait plus brûlant. Beaucoup de douceur encore une fois, avec de la vanille, du loukoum à la rose, du chewing-gum pêche-abricot (mention spéciale à tonton Jean-Mi), du bois, de la muscade. Un peu d'eau le rend plus parfumé, toujours dans la même veine, avec peut-être un arrière-goût d'eau de vie de poire.

Finish

Plutôt longue, dans la suite de la bouche.

Comments

Pas désagréable, mais pas non plus de quoi se relever la nuit. Le bois domine tout, heureusement sous sa forme la plus douce. A réserver aux amateurs de sucreries.

I love this private edition from Glenmorangie. This is huge on the palate and is very complex flavor profile. The finish is absolutely incredible and in my book one of the best whisky for the money on the market!

Seems to fall if had on it's own and shine if drunk after other drams as a sweet counter-weight/after-dram.
