Color

Old gold

Nose

The nose is honeysweet and floral. All kinds of honey and vanilla custard, wrapped in spring flowers. Mildly fruity on yellow plums and yellow raisins. Sultanas, they are called. Evolves slowly but surly into orange juice with a shot of grenadine. This is spring in your glass.

Taste

On the palate, too, it is sweet and somewhat creamy. A little pepper and pinch of nutmeg offer a mild bite. Orange and prune marmalade with quite a lot of vanilla. Midpalate, a slightly metallic touch emerges. I am again reminded of orange juice. Make that lemonade. Not bad, but rather docile to be honest.

Finish

In the medium long finish, which remains very sweet, some drying oak rears its head.

Comments

Absolutely good whisky, especially if the sun is out. But no matter how extremely rare this may be, it is not extremely overwhelming. Extremely sweet, yes. Around 70 EUR.

Nose

Tropical fruits, mango, apricot, plum, honey, vanilla, malt, brown sugar and citrus.

Taste

Rich and sweet. Tropical & dried fruits, honey, butterscotch, malt, orange, syrup and nutty.

Finish

Long mouthwatering finish with sweet caramel, honey and mango followed by nutmeg and cinnamon.

A wonderfully creamy and thick 18 year old dram, matured for 15 years in ex bourbon casks before being finished in Oloroso sherry casks.

Notes poivrées, vanille, chêne, sherry, touches d'agrumes.

Taste

Bois, épices et poivres, fruits (orange, pamplemousse), influence du sherry.

Finish

Longue et sèche, un peu de fumée, épicée et légèrement florale.

Une autre excellente variation de Glenmorangie.

Nose: Honey, Sherry, Flower nectar, Oak
Mouth: Very fruity, banana, cherry, oak
Finish: medium long, oak, fruity, papaya, a tiny tad smoke
Comments: I really like this one, very fruity! It`s very easy and drinkable but the great fruitiness really stands out. If you like the standard 10yo (which i find a bit mediocre) you will adore this one.

N: nuts, sourish, pesto/basilicum, vanilla, bitter (bitter cookies), caramel
T: oloroso, fruity, a little sourish, orange and citrus
F: raspberry, orange, a little smoky, black tea, prunes and floral - butter flower

Once it has spent fifteen years maturing in American white oak casks
approximately 30% is transferred into Spanish Oloroso casks to spend a
further three years maturing.

Nose

Some oak. More vanilla. Lots of walnuts. Touch of peppermint.

Taste

Fleshier. Good wood-extract and esters. Some peatiness emerging. The whole potpourri of spiciness.

Finish

Firm, dry, rounded. Nutty. Hint of peat.

Comments

A rich, mouth-filling dram that offers surprising length and depth to the finish.

Producer`s Tasting Notes

Aroma: The cornucopia
of an autumn harvest festival table describes the overflowing abundance
of arresting aromas that tantalise at the first nose of Glenmorangie 18
Years Old. The rich, resinous quality of nuts cascades into a crisp
toffee sweetness of crème brulée, merging with caressingly smooth,
creamy vanilla. Hints of vibrant oranges & lemons are found. Crunchy
textured walnuts follow, oozing into golden honeycomb that trickles
over sun-ripened sticky dates. Then sparkling floral tones emerge,
taking the edge off any cloying sweetness, with the green, almost herbal
bouquet of geranium, tempered with musky jasmine and the bright, sharp
clarity of narcissus.

With water, 18 Years Old reveals a rich oaken, balsamic character
that yields to soft vanilla. At this moment, the signature Glenmorangie
fruity complex reveals itself in golden apricots and dates mingled with
hazelnuts.

Taste: Glenmorangie 18 Years Old slips like silk over the tongue with
a full, rounded flavour, starting with grapefruit & orange. The
palate is then entranced with an accord of melting honey, creamy malt
and aromatic florals that segue into the warm, syrupy nuttiness of
hazelnuts and walnuts from the Oloroso sherry casks in which the whisky
is matured. Savour the rich, sticky date and fig flavours as they are
heightened by the unexpected caress of woodsmoke.

Finish: Lingering and enticing with the subtle sweetness of dried fruit and the nutty dryness of sherry."

The 18 year-old has always been one of the best of Glenmorangie`s core
range and, in common with all Glenmo`s offerings these days, it really
looks the part. Picked up the top prize in its category at the World
Whisky Awards 2010.

I like my whisky old and my women young!
