Color

Pale gold
Nose
lots of alcohol, quite a lot of new spirit. Some basic aromaâ€
Taste
another bourbon influence: the coconut. Some lemon and apples for the fruity flavours. There also is a very fruity/new spirit flavour in here I would discribe as pineapple.
Finish
warm, burning and long. But rather plasticy.

Nose
Oak, malt and white chocolate. Also a hint of sherry
Taste
Explosive ! Liquorice (not thàt sal ammoniac but as we call it in Dutch: zoethout). Honey. A little peppery and spicy
Finish
Mouthfilling. Very intens and peppery. After that very sweet but a little bitterness remains.
Comments
This is really a very good and tasteful UNPEATED Caol Ila, unlike the 12 yo version. That one really is certainly NOT unpeated.

"The second edition of Caol Ila`s excellent 8yo unpeated single malt,
originally bottled in 2007 at a whopping 64.9%. That`ll put hairs on
your chest."
TWE
Remember it\'s maturity that makes whisky great! That\'s why I Love The Glenrothes!

Yellow gold
Nose
Vanilla at first, but lots of citrus asserts itself. Lemons and Kiwis. A spot of Water makes it fresher and more hay-like. More and its citrussy again.
Taste
Amazing delivery dries the palate. Resinous and spicy. Water softens it.
Finish
Waves of creme caramel. Super, but not long. Water lengthens the finish amazingly. Suddenly it reminds me of the Glenmorangie artisan cask.
Comments
Lacks the peat that appeared on last years unpeated CI and is better for it. I'm always the last to admit this but a spot of water turns this dram from something great into something really excellent.

It's better to have drunk it all than never to have drunk at all.

A murderer in the glass, bourbon style Caol Ila and really unpeated. Without water, just not drinkable, the 65v% simply turn off your brain. The smallest drop numbs the tongue. You should not be save with water , it`s worth it.

Pale straw
Nose
Nose gives the sense of power and young age. A lot of fruit and citrus notes, vanilla, toffee, dried fruits, cherry, ozone and freshness.
Taste
It´s very sweet, condense, and lightly sour with lemon and tangerine in the aftertaste. It´s definitely fresh and completely free of smoke.
Finish
Long with a lot of sweetness, nuts in honey and citrus notes.

Nose
Quite a bit of vanilla (vanillin baking powder) & a bit of tobacco and leather. (78) With water - cellulose, artificial sweetness. (65)
Taste
Fruity (the first that came to mind was pears) with some wood & spices following closely behind. (82) With water - hardly any wood to speak of anymore, the bit that was there that seemed spicy disappears into perfumed sweetness. (64)
Finish
not long, but quite pleasant & the alcohol attacks a lot less than I would have expected with around 65%. (80). W water (64)
Comments
Does not take water well and seems to fall apart quickly to become spirit and a dilluted syrup-y sweetness.

Remember - whisky scores and impressions are highly subjective and situational by nature - so don't go and buy whisky according to someone else's taste...
