Color

Old gold

Nose

Mellow, starting on wood and sherry aromas, and - surprisingly - there is a slight but clearly noticeable smokyness. Orange aroma in the background. Nice.

Taste

Mellow with wood, sherry and smoke in the dominating role. After some time the sherry becomes more dominant, but the sherry quality is not very much to my liking, maybe becaue it is a mixture with liquorice and smoky notes.

Finish

Medium long - oak, smoke and liquorice with a dusty dryness coming up.

Comments

I am really surprised to find such intensive smoky notes in a Komagatake. Good whisky and an interesting experience for me. It is definitely good news to hear that Shinshu distillery started distilling again.
