Nose

Ce n'est pas la savane mais il y a bien un peu de bois et de vanille.

Je crois que l'on va retrouver ce duo tout du long...

D'autres compagnons se joignent à l'aventure. un peu de pomme verte (on sent qu'il y a du jeunot dans cette bouteille),

et des ruines archéologiques de citron.

Taste

C'est un peu gras, un peu sucré, un peu confit, un peu vanillé...

Du pas beaucoup partout mais sans aucune fioriture.

Simple et agréable.

Finish

La finale a autant de punch que les onomatopées balancées dans les anciens épisodes de la série batman et robin.

Mais une fois encore, cette douceur vanillée nous suffit.

Comments

Une singerie autour de 20 euros (rien à redire pour ce prix) qui vous ferait oublier que vous avez des rhumatismes.

Color

Chestnutoloroso sherry

Nose

Appetising, mellow. Lilac, violets, plum jelly, fruit cake, lemonade, banana, pears, pineapple, sugared cherries, apricots, nutmeg, strawberries, cream soda. Paint and varnish on the periphery. The aroma transforms rapidly and, unfortunately, wanes quickly too.

Taste

Clean. Very soft, dry, winy, creamy. Tea, mint, cherry plum, spa wafers, lacquer, polished wood, cocoa, almonds, marzipan, chocolate, lemon, lime, candied fruit.

Finish

Medium. Lingering. Fennel, lettuce?, walnuts, ginger, turnips, saltish pickle, ground pepper, cloves, some citrus, candied peel, old oak, tannins, liquorice.

Comments

A decent everyday dram. Very accessible, relaxing, affordable, and of good quality moreover. For those using a hip flask, fill one up with Monkey Shoulder, you'll be pleased with a tipple like that.

Burnished

Nose

The first thing I notice on the nose is a bourbonny butterscotch, augmented by pears, prunes and even strawberry. Honeysweet, to say the least. Some nuts and a hint of mint. Very accessible and inviting nose, albeit somewhat light.

Taste

The attack is similarly light on nuts and honey, but gives up more citrus than you would have expected from the nose. Syrupy. Some spicy oak rears its head midpalate. Orange zest. Lacks some punch and depth, but certainly leaves many a blend in its shadow.

Finish

The finish is short to medium, again on nuts, orange zest and light oaky notes.

Comments

I was expecting a mixers whisky and am convinced it is often used for making cocktails because of the sweet character, but this is much more than that.

Cheers to the men of maltings. At one time, Monkey Shoulder referred to a temporary injury suffered by the malt men when turning the barley by hand. Whilst our malt men are among the few who still turn the barley manually, working conditions are now such that fortunately the injury has been consigned to the past.

Today, the name Monkey Shoulder lives on as an affectionate tribute to the malt men of yore in recognition of the times they sufered for their art.

A good example of a vatted malt. Suitable for any whisky drinker. Is often used for mixed drinks, also see on the homepage. Well balanced, strong and aromatic, more sweet and pleasant aftertaste. Not only for the experts.

vanille orange céréales. pas d'une grande complexité mais bien agréable

Taste

légèrement anisé un peu gras et sucré(miel d'acacias) là encore pas renversant mais très honnête

Finish

relativement courte avec un peu d'amertume (sans doute le grain)

le point faible

un très bon blend assez charmeur au rapport qualité prix excellent.

(20,50 euros dans les grandes surfaces en France)à ce prix,difficile de trouver mieux.je connais des single malt nettement moins bons.

Ressemble plus à du Balvenie qu`a du Glenfiddich, texture assez moelleuse du Balvenie (pas la sécheresse du Glenfiddich). Beaucoup de miel, de vanille et d`orange, rien d`exceptionnel mais un bon rapport qualité-prix.
