Color

Auburn

Nose

Warming, quite closed - probably due to the high alcohol content. Sweet with sherry and Mon Cherie at first nosing. Smells like red berries and black forest cake. Very nice.

Taste

Powerful, sweet and alcoholic at first mouthfeel, warming from deep inside. Fruity with notes of plums in madeira and apple pips. More and more wood aromas evolve, becomes dryer and dryer.

Finish

Long, dry, with notes of wood - slightly smoky.

Comments

I tasted quite a few better Japanese whiskies, although this 12 year old Yamazaki is still very good.
