A beautiful full golden whisky with wonderful age of 18.

Marshmellows

and striking tones of vanilla make this particular whisky, soft smoky tones

make the flavor completely finished giving him a nice long finish.

Nose
Peat smoke, little amount of putty, strong citrus (ripe oranges and kumquats). Lots of honey, some herbs. Cooked apples with cinnamon. Tiny peppermint. Very complex and always changing nose. Superb.
Taste

Good body, little oily. Starts mineral and on waxy fruits, then expressive peat smoke. Ripe fruits (citrus again). Little chocolate, not much impact from the sherry cask. Half sweet, half dry, later a little bitter (the typical tonic notes). Many layers, very complex and hard to pin down. Opens with time. Later strong yeasty, kind of mellow wheat beer. Yummie.

Finish
Quite long and warming. Big finale, spicy and zesty. Wow!
Comments
Highest quality, fully matured and classic Springbank style, with the right amount of sharp peat. Take your time with this one, then you get the reward. Takes water not that well, better neat.

Elegance is his second name. Yes, it is peated, yes, it is a Longrow and has these notes of a seawater harbour, but this all is wrapped in sweetness (wrapped, not drowned) that makes the Longrow 18y 2nd batch a pure drinking delight. A little bit expensive, but if you seek a balanced, smooth whisky with a lot of character, well worth the coin.
