Nose
A delightful mixture of oak and fruit, fresh flowers and butterscotch. Slight smokiness too. A really lovely old nose on this one.
Taste
Oranges and sugared almonds, then the oak kicks in. Gentle spices prevail.
Finish
Long, dry and spicy with oaky bitterness at the end.
Comments
This is a real piece of history. Glen Keith is silent now, but back in 1968 when this whisky was made the distillery was still using triple distillation (until 1970). That's detectable I think. There's a lightness to the spirit that you don't find in more recent Glen Keith distillates. The whisky is very good on balance. The nose is amazing, but sadly the oak has taken over the finish giving it a bitter edge that spoils the effect somewhat. It was good enough to persuade me to buy a bottle, but maybe I was slightly seduced by its history. Either way I'm glad to have it.

It's better to have drunk it all than never to have drunk at all.

Hallo, this is not so bad indeed. Sweet sherry with nice vanilla, very well balanced and with his 46v% very cheerful to drink, behind the surprisingly sweetness a hint of smoke and wood. A long warming marvelous finish brings that bottle to a very well tasing rate.

Info from label on bottle:
Glen Keith is situated on the banks of the river Isla, a stone's throw from it's sister distillery - Strathisla. A converted grain mill, the distillery started production in1958 using triple distillation to produce a lighter style of whisky. This continued until 1970 when the number of stills was increased and the double distillation process was adopted.

Rich and sweet with a mellowing sherry influence.
