Color

Pale straw

Nose

The nose bursts with orchard fruit. Apples, pears, but also lime and gooseberries. The whole seems sprinkled with crystal sugar. Lemongrass, vanilla and mint. Very fresh. The coastal elements, bar some iodine, do not stand a chance.

Taste

It is oily and sweet on the palate, while quite some brine immediately joins the fray. More citrus than white fruit, now. But very fruity. Bittersweet as if from grapefruit. Soft garden herbs.

Finish

The finish is a perfect balance of sweet and salt, with only a whiff of oak.

Nose: toffee and malt.

Taste: toffee and malt.

Finish: better - nicely spiced with a flowery scent and slight oilyness about it.

Ordinary but perfectly drinkable.

A bourbon-matured small batch 23yo from Old Pulteney, released at the
same time as the sherry-matured edition. This is slightly lighter in
style, as one would expect, but boasts equal intensity of flavour, with
vanilla and clove from the oak taking prominence.
