Color

Pale straw

Nose

Young barley, dark sugar, vanilla, cut grass, and some peat from the water.

Taste

Medium bodied, quite clean, barley, floral (herbs, grass), some acidity (lemons).

Finish

Medium long, drying and somewhat bitter (ginger, lemon peel), and a little peat.

Comments

This whisky is young, but the nose is already quite complex. The palate is still able to keep this promise, but the finish is rather one sided, rather dry and bitter. Too bad, but still a very decent dram.

Bright and fresh aromas with pleasant notes of malt, sugar and roasted grain supplemented by wintry spices and soft oak- Relatively fresh palette with delicious notes of acacia honey and soft oak followed by slight smoke and pepper with hints of dried fruit and cinnamon. Long and spicy finish with notes of pepper. drankgigant 12.12.2012

Color

Pale straw

Nose

Fresh and nutty an the nose, with citrus fruits and brittle toffee and more than a whiff of peat.

Taste

Medium-bodied, nicely textured, and quite dry on the palate, with delicate peat, malt and nuts.

Finish

Medium to long, with a hint of mint and a slight citrusy tang.

Nose: Vanilla, pears, honey, grains, slightly mineral, a bit earthy and rough

Mouth: Some light peat and a hint of smoke, fairly rich, some honey

Finish: Honey, quite long and warm, a bit peat again, a tad oak and spices

Comments: This is very solid and robust. Surprisingly rich. A good whisky for a fair price, recommended.

Nose is rather bland and lacking complexity although there are some nice fruity tones lingering in the background. Quite harsh on the palate, even with water, and a short-medium finish. Perfectly drinkable but nothing special or distinctive.

Single dram note: Biting spirit, earth, leather, sherry/chocolate, mineral, bog/bark

Remember - whisky scores and impressions are highly subjective and situational by nature - so don't go and buy whisky according to someone else's taste...

Color

Gin clear

Nose

Farmyard almost completely gone. Now I have fruit - loads of fruit - and quite some malt. There's also something that reminds me of Clynelish, though I can't put my finger on what it is. Good though.
The farmyard is still there but it's faint and perfectly acceptable.

Taste

Fruit. There's malt as well and some oily flavours. Traces of nuts? I think so, but faint

Finish

Touch of bitterness at first, soon gone. Spicy and still fruity.

Comments

When I first opened this it was very farmyardy. Over the first half a bottle it improved immeasurably and these notes are based on the end of the bottle.

This wasn't great at first but after a while it's become very acceptable. I always quite liked the old Tobermory 10 (apologies to the many who didn't) but this is a significant improvement. Very acceptable

Nose: There is a slight smell of somewhat decomposed organic waste.
(like when you peel an apple and you leave the peels overnight in open
air) mixed with used motor oil, iodine and algae. It is a bit of walnut,
a touch of lemon and aspirin as well as porridge and baked pear.

Mixed with of all this, I also have a strong smell of chalk.

Everything is very strange but well balanced and not as unpleasant as my words do suggest.

Taste: Very lemony. Sweet / acid with some spices (cinnamon, sage, thyme). Chalk still survives everything.

Smoky, somewhat lemony finish. Next comes several spices and a
slight astringency always mixed with lemon. After a moment some motor
oil and iodine appear mixed with a highly aromatic vanilla.
