My first experience with Scotch whisky was on a holiday in Scotland - Aberdeen. I stayed in a hotel where a tasting was held by Regis Lemaitre (Regis WhiskyMad). The tasting was about whiskies from Michel Couvreur and after the tasting I was hooked on whisky.

After the holiday I started to buy, drink and collect real whiskies. I also started this website. Now this is the biggest whisky database in the world and it is still growing.

I started to drink Whisky as a teenager. But never ever with Coke or other mixtures. The beginning was with standard Blends, a Chivas was a highlight in this days. Later I changed to the standard Malts like Glenfiddich, Glen Grant, Loch Lomand ..... all the supermarket whiskies. After my studies, with a good job and the greater availability of malts, I tasted rarer Whiskies (in this time) like Laphroaig, Ardbeg and so on. I do not prefer any special Scottish region, it is depend on the time, the atmosphere and ambience. I visited Scotland for some times, every time with more happiness. My heart was lost on Islay, not only for his Whiskies, also the nature, the people and the slowness of life. My collectors heart goes to Clynelish, in the meantime I have a small Clynelish collection (and also some others). But the best way to try good whiskies is, to meet friends and taste together.

My whisky tale started on a birthday party. The host offered me a glass of whisky but I didn't like any alcoholic drinks at the time so I didn't want any. He convinced me by explaining this Aberlour 10 was no ordinary whisky but some special kind called single malt whisky. I liked it and my curiosity was triggered. A few days later I bought my first bottle and soon I realised there was a whole new world to explore. Travelling is another passion. I've visited many places around the world and of course I visited Scotland too. Only a few years ago my first distillery visit was not in Scotland but happened to be in India. Since my visit to Amrut distillery I visited a few distilleries in Scotland too.

I have bought my first bottle of whisky in ROM in 1997. This bottle was the reason for spending the summer holidays in Scotland in the same year. Since that time I tasted a lot of whiskies (never counted them) and I am glad to discover new things again and again.

Most whiskies in my collection are intended to enjoy. I was always open-minded and never fixated on a specific distillery, on a certain bottler or on one of the regions in Scotland. Therefore bottlings of many different distilleries have found their way in my collection. I like meeting friends, enjoying some drams and having plenty of pleasure together.

Starting young, I loved whiskies. But with me it was a trip to Scotland and it had grabbed me finally: whiskies to study, to taste, to collect and to drink! The true water of life! But I also love a good bourbon whiskey.

I live in the eastern part of Switzerland and I'm working as a researcher in the dark areas of crime ...

In my private live I like also to travel, to hike, to read a book and culture in every form.

I was born in Warsaw, Poland. The beginning of my experience with whisky goes back to late nineties when I visited a neurologist with migraines I was suffering since the childhood. I heard from an experienced doctor "drink a dram of whisky, cognac, or brandy before you go to bed, you will sleep better and headaches will go away forever" - this was it. It took some time to experience the difference between usual commercially advertised whisky on rocks and good plane whisky, but once I dived into it, there was no way coming back.

I'm married with two children, enthusiastic about whisky, photography and music. I'm definitely in love with Laphroaig and Islay flavors as well as Japanese whiskies.
